1. Participation Statement
Please be aware that indoor climbing, even in a well managed facility, is not risk free. By climbing here, you acknowledge the following statement:
The British Mountaineering Council recognises that climbing and mountaineering are activities with a danger of personal injury or death. Participants in these activities should be aware of and accept these risks and be responsible for their own actions and involvement.
“All climbing and bouldering activities have a risk of serious injury or death. Participants must be aware of and accept that even if they follow all good practices there may still be the risk of accident and injury. It is the responsibility of the participant to adhere to the conditions of use.”
It is important that you understand this document. There is inherent risk involved with climbing centres and associated activities. By signing this form, you are stating you understand that these risks cannot be completely removed. If you do not understand any of the terminology or content, ask a member of staff to clarify.
2. Additional notes
Climbing is movement at height and there is a risk that you could slip and fall at any time. Climbing beyond your capabilities on any wall is more likely to result in a fall.
Climbing holds may spin or break at any time. This can cause you to fall unexpectedly and increase the risk of injury.
The soft matting under the bouldering wall does not make the activity safe. Broken and sprained limbs are common. Uncontrolled falls are likely to result in injuries to yourself and others, and even a well controlled jump from height can result in injury.
When climbing you must always ensure your landing zone is clear. Obstructions in a climber’s landing zone increases the risk of injury.
Do not climb unless you are under direct supervision of a competent adult.
The staff are available to assist if you have any questions
